ARTIST STATEMENT
Painting is a process of translation for me. I
enjoy the struggle to interpret the "real world"
with the visual overlays my mind adds to it, such
as bits of whimsy or shapes you see out of the
corner of your eye, an animal smiling, a woman
finding peace in a moment. I like to paint the
elusive moments of fullness and awareness in
the everyday. So while I may paint a still life, I
try to capture the magical quality of the moment.
With acrylics and watercolors, I am painting my
emotional response to the world around me.
